Survival run training
De Voshaar has been providing survival run training for adults since 1989/90 and from 1991/92 also for juniors. Voshaar founder Gerrit Kluivers already used elements that are now in survival sports in his training courses in the 1970s. Trainer Raoul Kluivers introduced the survival run at the CIOS in Heerenveen in 1992 (the first CIOS where survival run became known) and graduated in the course running, fitness trainer at that CIOS by means of an annual periodization for Survival run. In addition, Raoul is a certified athletics trainer and fitness trainer.
This training consists of an extensive w-up and an obstacle training. The obstacle training is given by means of a weekly new schedule focused on the different competitions. Different schedules are made for the long run, medium run, short run, recreational and beginners. The trainer guides the athletes where necessary and newcomers are 'familiarized' with many different obstacles and techniques. On Wednesday and Thursday evenings the athletes are introduced to the different techniques. If the techniques and safety aspects have been mastered, training can also be done on Monday and Friday evenings. Free training outside the fixed training times is also possible.
