Jurassic Winter Activities

Winter activities in the French Jura

For 2021 we have planned a beautiful winter adventure in the Jura

The four-day Jura Experience.
Wild Wild Winter

CANCELED due to Covid-19

WWWOn day one we will start with an afternoon hike on snowshoes, acclimatization, followed by a hearty meal Chez Coco and an overnight stay in the gite. On the 30th we leave 'into the forest' and stay outside for 2 nights. We will look for traces of wolf, lynx and chamois, explain the basics of avalanche science and teach the participants how to use a map, compass and GPS. We also cover various winter survival techniques. We are not concerned with covering distances, but with 'enjoying hours outside'.

Two nights in the Gite and two nights in the forest. The first and last evening meals are provided by Coco. In the forest everyone cooks their own meal, or together of course. One must have some basic condition.

A pulka (or two) goes along for provisions, material and extra woolen blankets.

Date: 2022: TBA
Costs: € 395,-
Voshaar members and participants WWE weekends: € 370,-
Including 2 nights in the gite, 2 dinners and material.
Excluding travel, other food, drinks and insurance.

Maximum number of participants: 12

The Jura is a region on the border of France and Switzerland. For our snow activities in the Jura, we have been going to Bellefontaine/La Chapelle de Bois, in the heart of this area, since 2004. Snowshoeing, X-adventure skiing, cross-country skiing, tracking, orienteering and winter survival are some of the activities available. We spend the night and eat in the gite of 'Coco' on the edge of the foret du Risoux. For winter survival training we also choose to spend the night in shelters, tents and/or snow caves.
