Follow in the footsteps of bears and wolves in Parque Natural de Somiedo

We organize a nature trip in Asturias and León in NW Spain. We dive into the Cantabrian Mountains and go to Parque Natural de Somiedo. This area is known as beautiful and rugged. Perfect for us, but also for the wolves, bears and birds of prey that live here. Day trips from Pola de Somiedo to the locations with the best chance of seeing bears and other animals.
Enjoy a fantastic rugged environment, nice authentic villages, nice people and lots of wildlife.

Children aged 12 years and older, accompanied by an adult, can join this trip in August.
With the focus on the brown bear.
We meet daily in Pola de Somiedo or Gúa, in the heart of the National Park. We'll spend 6 to 10 hours each day searching for brown bears, chamois, wolves, and birds of prey. We often do this in two blocks throughout the day. Participants are responsible for arranging their own transportation. A ride with the guide (limited numbers) is possible upon request. We collaborate with the local specialists from Somiedo Experience. The hikes are not strenuous, and we take plenty of time to enjoy nature and regularly wait at a good viewpoint for animals to appear.

Costs exclude travel, overnight stays, meals, drinks and travel insurance.
You have to arrange your own accommodation. There is a camping in Pola and there are hotels and B&Bs in Pola and the villages around Pola.

We will do everything we can to see bears and/or wolves, and anyone who knows Voshaar knows that there is a good chance of special sightings when you go out with us.

Raoul took us to the most beautiful places of this Spanish “national parc”. In the morning of the first day we already received a message that a bear had been spotted from the lookout point near the hotel where we stayed. A simple 'self catering' apartment hotel located in the beautiful nature of Gúa near Pola de Somiedo. After the first bear, 7 more followed for me and further much more natural beauty, birds of prey, butterflies (lots of butterflies!), flowers and plants and above all a breathtakingly beautiful landscape that looks different after every bend. The beautiful Spanish weather also helps a lot of course. Northern Spain is not as hot as other parts.
Raoul will do everything he can to show you as much beauty as possible, but leaves plenty of room for relaxation, good food and drinks on a Spanish terrace and, if necessary, a siesta
